Although Indoor Hockey may have the same roots as out door field hockey played on an Astroturf in reality they are two very different games. Anyone who plays indoor hockey seriously knows that you need a special kind of stick to do it properly.
Indoor Hockey Sticks are normally lighter and thinner than normal sticks to compliment the fact the indoor balls are lighter. They sometimes have a more pronounced hook to aid control.
Some players still prefer traditional wooden heads for indoor as they say it gives more control but most opt for carbon sticks.
A decent Indoor hockey stick costs around £35/£40 but you can pay up to £100 quite easily now. Buying a really cheap stick is a false economy as they will soon break and you will just throw good money after bad. If your not familiar with the pitch dimensions for indoor hockey I've included a diagram below.
